Zinnia 'Mazurkia'

'Mazurkia' is a spectacular and modern Zinnia cultivar that brings a festive feel to the UK garden. It produces large, double, dahlia-like flowers that are bicoloured: the petals are a vibrant, scarlet-red tipped with clean white. Reaching approximately 60-75cm in height, it is a sturdy, upright plant with coarse, hairy foliage. Zinnias can be a little temperamental in the UK as they despise cold, wet weather; they are best started indoors in late April to avoid a long period of root confinement and planted out only in June when the soil is warm. They require a position in full sun and rich, well-drained soil. 'Mazurkia' is an outstanding cut flower with a long vase life, and the more you cut the blooms, the more the plant will branch and flower. It is highly resistant to heat and provides a bold, graphic punch of colour to late summer borders and containers.
