Youth-and-age 'Envy'

'Envy' is a unique and famous Zinnia cultivar that produces stunning semi-double to double flowers in a rare shade of cool chartreuse green. This colour is highly Brewster by UK gardeners because it acts as a perfect 'bridge' between other more vibrant colours, making everything around it look more intense. The plants reach about 60-75cm in height and have a bushy habit. Zinnias are half-hardy annuals that crave heat and light; they are best suited to a sheltered, south-facing border or a sunny terrace in the UK. They do not like being moved, so it is often recommended to sow them in peat-free modules or direct into the soil once it has warmed in late May. They are excellent cut flowers, with a long vase life. Regular deadheading is required to keep the plant producing its unusual lime-green blooms until the frosts arrive in autumn.
