Rain Lily
Zephyranthes candida, commonly known as the Rain Lily, is a delightful small tuberous perennial that produces a profusion of pure white, crocus-like flowers, often after summer rainfall. Each starry bloom sits atop slender stems, adding a delicate touch to the garden. The elegant, grass-like foliage forms neat clumps, providing a lovely texture even when not in flower. This hardy species thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, making it an excellent choice for rock gardens, container planting, or along the front of borders in UK gardens. It is relatively low maintenance and will naturalise over time, forming charming drifts. Its ability to burst into bloom with summer showers provides a delightful surprise and extends the flowering season, attracting late-season pollinators.
