Sweetcorn 'Mirai'

'Mirai' is a super-sweet hybrid sweetcorn cultivar, renowned for its exceptionally tender kernels and outstanding sugary flavour that holds well after picking. This variety produces good-sized cobs, typically two per plant, on robust stalks reaching 1.8-2m in height with a spread of 45-60cm. As an H1C hardy annual, 'Mirai' requires a warm, sunny, sheltered position in the UK to thrive. It prefers rich, well-drained soil. For good pollination and well-filled cobs, plant in blocks of at least 4-6 plants rather than a single row. Harvest when the tassels turn brown and a milky liquid squirts when a kernel is punctured. A delightful summer crop that brings the taste of sunshine to the plate. Pollinated by wind.
