Laurustinus 'French White'
Viburnum tinus 'French White' is a sophisticated evergreen shrub that provides much-needed winter interest in the UK garden. It is characterised by its dense, bushy habit and dark, leathery green leaves. What sets 'French White' apart is its long flowering period; pink-tinged buds open into pure white, flat-domed flower clusters from late autumn right through until spring. These flowers are often followed by small, metallic-blue berries that eventually turn black, providing interest for both humans and wildlife. It is an excellent choice for a medium-sized hedge, offering privacy and a windbreak. Fully hardy (H4) and very easy to grow, it is tolerant of most soil types and can handle both sun and shade. It is also particularly resistant to pests and diseases compared to other shrubs. An annual prune in spring after the final flowers have faded will keep the hedge compact and promote healthy new growth.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Any well-drained soil.
