Japanese Snowball Bush 'Summer Snowflake'
Unlike many other Viburnum plicatum cultivars that have a single short flowering period, 'Summer Snowflake' is remarkable for its ability to produce flowers repeatedly from late spring right through until autumn. It has a distinctive tiered, horizontal branching habit that gives it a very elegant, structured appearance. The white flowers are lace-cap in style, sitting flat on top of the branches. In autumn, the foliage turns spectacular shades of reddish-purple. It is a deciduous shrub that is fully hardy in the UK and easy to grow, preferring moist but well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded spot. It makes an excellent specimen plant for a border where its architectural form can be appreciated. It is generally low-maintenance and slow-growing enough to suit medium-sized gardens.
