Guelder RoseBase 'Roseum'

'Roseum', commonly known as the Snowball Bush, is a classic and much-loved cultivar of the native Guelder Rose. Unlike the species, this cultivar produces large, spherical, pom-pom-like clusters of flowers that start as a lime-green and mature to a pure, brilliant white in late spring and early summer. The flowers are sterile, so it does not produce berries, but it more than makes up for this with its spectacular floral display. The deciduous foliage consists of deeply lobed, maple-like leaves that turn a lovely reddish-purple in the autumn. It makes an excellent, bushy, and informal flowering hedge that brings a touch of traditional charm to the garden. It is exceptionally hardy and easy-to-grow, preferring a moist but well-drained soil. It can tolerate a range of conditions including partial shade and heavy clay. It is a vigorous grower and will benefit from pruning after flowering to maintain its shape and size.
