Prostrate Speedwell 'Mrs Holt'

Veronica prostrata 'Mrs Holt' is a delightful, low-growing evergreen perennial that forms a dense, carpet-like mat of small, dark green leaves. In early summer, the foliage is almost completely obscured by a profusion of short, upright spikes of delicate, pale-pink flowers. This cultivar is much-loved for its soft colour and tidy habit, making it an ideal choice for the front of a sunny border, a rock garden, or for softening the edges of paths and patios. It is fully hardy and very easy to grow in any well-drained soil. Unlike some more vigorous speedwells, it remains fairly compact and is easily managed. To keep it looking fresh and encourage a second flush of foliage, it can be lightly trimmed after the flowers have faded. It is a wonderful companion for blue-flowered alpines or silver-leaved plants. Its mat-forming habit is excellent for suppressing small weeds while providing a charming, fine-textured floral display each year. It is a reliable and classic garden favourite.
