Brooklime
Brooklime is a charming British native evergreen marginal plant. it has succulent, rounded, dark green leaves on creeping stems that root where they touch the ground or water. In early summer, it produces small but numerous spikes of bright, sky-blue flowers with white eyes, resembling miniature forget-me-nots. It is a fantastic 'raft' plant, growing out from the bank across the water surface, providing excellent cover for froglets and other pond life. It is very easy to grow and can be used to soften the edges of ponds or to provide ground cover in boggy areas. It is fully hardy (H7) and will keep its foliage through most winters. It grows best in shallow water up to 10cm deep or in wet mud. Periodic trimming may be necessary to keep it within its allotted space, but it is generally a welcome and beneficial addition to any garden pond, regardless of size.
