Mullein 'Wedding Candles'

Verbascum 'Wedding Candles' is an elegant biennial cultivar that provides stately vertical accents in UK gardens. In its first year, it forms an attractive basal rosette of large, grey-green, felted leaves. In the second, it produces slender, often branched, flower spikes, reaching up to 1.5-1.8 metres tall. These spikes are adorned with a succession of exquisite, pure white flowers, often with a delicate pink blush at the centre, creating a beautiful contrast with their prominent yellow stamens. Blooming from early to late summer, it has a long season of interest. Fully hardy (H5) and drought-tolerant, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, even poor, neutral to alkaline soil.
