Mullein 'Southern Charm'
Verbascum 'Southern Charm' is an elegant biennial cultivar that brings architectural height and a prolonged season of interest to UK gardens. It forms a handsome rosette of silvery-green, felted leaves in its first year, followed by towering, branched flower spikes up to 1.5-2 metres tall in its second year. The delicate, saucer-shaped flowers appear in a delightful mix of pastel shades, including dusky pinks, sunset oranges, apricots, and creams, often with contrasting purple eyes, blooming throughout summer. Fully hardy (H5) and drought-tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun and well-drained, even poor, soil. Excellent for dry borders, gravel gardens, or as a striking vertical accent.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Well-drained, poor soil tolerated.
Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
