Saccharum ravennae

Tripidium ravennae, formerly known as Saccharum ravennae and more commonly as Hardy Pampas Grass or Ravennae Grass, is a majestic and imposing ornamental grass perfect for adding dramatic height and architectural presence to larger UK gardens. It forms an enormous clump of strong, blue-green, arching foliage, reminiscent of true pampas grass but significantly hardier. In late summer to autumn, colossal, silvery to bronze-pink feathery plumes emerge on sturdy stems, towering above the foliage. These magnificent plumes can reach impressive heights and provide spectacular winter interest. 'Ravennae' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating a degree of drought once established, making it a fantastic statement plant for open spaces, borders, or as a focal point.
