Trillium

Trillium grandiflorum, the Great White Trillium, is an exquisite tuberous perennial highly prized in UK woodland gardens for its elegant spring display. It features distinctive whorls of three broad, prominently veined leaves, from the centre of which rises a single, pristine white, three-petalled flower. These large, showy blooms gradually age to a delicate pink, adding further interest. Trilliums thrive in cool, moist, shady conditions, preferring humus-rich, well-drained acidic to neutral soil, mimicking their natural woodland habitat. They are excellent for naturalising under deciduous trees and shrubs, creating a serene and sophisticated early spring scene. They are slow to establish but long-lived and incredibly rewarding, offering a truly captivating display.
