Hairy Garden Thyme 'Thomass White'
A charming, low-growing evergreen herb that forms a dense, spongy carpet of aromatic, dark green foliage. This cultivar, 'Thomas's White', is particularly notable for its profusion of pure white flowers that appear in early summer, covering the plant so completely that the leaves are barely visible. It is an excellent choice for planting in the crevices of paving, between stepping stones, or along the edges of a sunny path where its scent can be released when stepped upon. It is very hardy (H5) and thrives in the UK climate, provided it has full sun and very well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant and requires almost no maintenance, although a light trim after flowering can help keep the mat tight and prevent it from becoming hollow in the centre. It is a fantastic pollinator plant, attracting a wide variety of bees to the garden. It brings a neat, clean aesthetic to a rockery or Mediterranean scheme.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soil; prefers neutral to alkaline.
Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
