Golden Thyme strip 'Andersons Gold'

Thymus 'Anderson's Gold' is a low-growing, mat-forming thyme cultivar that is excellent for adding a splash of year-round colour to the garden. Its small, rounded leaves are a brilliant golden-yellow, which is most intense in full sun but remains vibrant throughout the seasons. It typically reaches only 5-10cm in height but can spread to form a wide carpet, making it ideal for planting in the crevices of paving stones, between stepping stones, or as a bright groundcover in a herb bed. In mid-summer, it is covered in small, lavender-pink flowers that butterflies love. The foliage has a pleasant, mild thyme scent and can be used for culinary purposes, though its primary value is ornamental. It is hardy (H4) but, like all thymes, it is sensitive to winter wet. Ensuring it is planted in free-draining, gritty soil is essential for its survival in the UK. A light trim after flowering will help maintain its dense, cushion-like habit.
