Western Red Cedar 'Green Giant'

Thuja plicata 'Green Giant' is an exceptionally vigorous and popular hedging conifer, celebrated for its fast growth rate and lush, dense, dark green foliage. It forms a strong, narrowly pyramidal to conical habit, making it an ideal choice for creating tall screens and hedges quickly. It can easily grow 0.6-1m per year, ultimately reaching 10-15m in height with a spread of 3-5m if left unpruned. The rich green, scale-like leaves retain their colour well throughout winter. 'Green Giant' is very hardy and adaptable, thriving in full sun to partial shade and a range of well-drained soils, showing good resistance to disease and deer browsing. It's a superb choice for reliable, fast-growing evergreen shelter.
