Feverfew 'White Bonnet'
'White Bonnet' is a delightful and distinct variety of Feverfew, a traditional medicinal herb that has been a staple in cottage gardens for centuries. This cultivar is particularly prized for its double flowers; instead of the typical single daisy-like blossoms, it produces clusters of button-like, pure white pom-pom heads with very little or no yellow centres showing. The foliage is a vivid, lime-green and deeply lobed, possessing a bitter, pungent scent that acts as a natural insect repellent. It is a short-lived perennial but is a prolific self-seeder, meaning that once established in a UK garden, it will usually reappear year after year in various sunny spots. It is incredibly easy to grow, tolerating poor soil and even some drought, though it prefers a well-drained position in full sun. It provides a long season of interest and's excellent for cutting. It is widely used in traditional medicine for the treatment of migraines.
