Comfrey 'Bocking 14'
Comfrey is a vigorous perennial plant, often grown in UK gardens not just for its traditional medicinal uses, but also as an invaluable companion plant and source of nutrient-rich compost accelerator or 'comfrey tea' fertiliser. It forms large clumps of broad, hairy leaves and produces drooping clusters of bell-shaped flowers, typically purple or cream, in late spring and early summer. Fully hardy (H7), it prefers moist, fertile soil and tolerates a range of light conditions from full sun to partial shade. Be aware that it can spread readily via its deep taproot and self-seeding; choose a suitable location.
