Iberian Comfrey 'Allgold'

Symphytum ibericum 'Allgold' is a luminous ground cover cultivar that is specifically selected for its brilliant, lime-yellow foliage. This plant is a fantastic tool for brightening up shady corners or for creating a high-contrast focal point in a border. It forms a dense, spreading mat of hairy, ovate leaves that effectively suppress weeds. In mid-spring, it is topped with clusters of creamy-white, bell-shaped flowers that hang from the stems. While it is related to the more vigorous common comfrey, this cultivar is much slower to spread and is easier to contain. It is fully hardy and thrives in moist, fertile soil in partial shade. In too much sun, the bright foliage can scorch, while in deep shade, it may turn a more chartreuse green. It is a resilient plant that can withstand a fair amount of neglect once its root system is established. It is an excellent choice for a modern, textured garden design or a woodland edge.
