Spinach 'Emperor'
Spinach 'Emperor' is a modern and reliable F1 hybrid spinach cultivar, praised for its vigorous growth, good disease resistance (especially to downy mildew), and excellent yield of tender, dark green, slightly savoyed leaves. This fast-growing leafy vegetable forms a compact rosette, typically reaching 20-30cm in height and spread. It performs best in a sunny to partially shaded position with fertile, moisture-retentive, well-drained soil. 'Emperor' is slow to bolt, making it suitable for successional sowings from spring through to autumn in the UK, providing a continuous supply of nutritious leaves for fresh use or cooking.
