Houseleek 'Gold Marie'

'Gold Marie' is a captivating Sempervivum cultivar that offers a rare colour palette for the rock garden. Its medium-sized rosettes feature leaves that are a stunning golden-yellow to lime-green, accented by vivid red tips. In the height of summer or under stress, the golden tones become even more pronounced. Like other houseleeks, it is exceptionally hardy and well-suited to the UK climate, surviving even the harshest winters without protection as long as it isn't sitting in water. It produces small, pinkish-red flowers on short stalks, but the plant is primarily grown for its colourful, evergreen mats of foliage. It spreads via runners (offsets), quickly filling gaps in rockeries, stone walls, or alpine troughs. For the best colour, 'Gold Marie' must be grown in full sun; in shade, it will lose its golden hue and turn a more uniform green. It is an ideal, low-maintenance plant for adding year-round brightness to exposed garden sites.
