Caucasian Stonecrop 'Voodoo'
Sedum spurium 'Voodoo' is a striking, succulent ground cover that thrives in the most challenging, dry, and sunny spots of the garden. This evergreen perennial forms a low-growing mat of fleshy, scalloped leaves that are a deep, mahogany-red to dark burgundy colour, providing a bold splash of dark foliage year-round. In late summer, it produces clusters of starry, rose-red flowers that are highly attractive to pollinators and contrast beautifully with the dark leaves. It is an ideal plant for rockeries, gravel gardens, or for filling gaps in stone walls where it can sprawl and trail. It is incredibly tough and drought-tolerant once established, with a hardiness rating of H7. It performs best in well-drained, even poor, soil and requires full sun to maintain its deep foliage colour; in shade, the leaves may turn more greenish. It is a very low-maintenance plant that is perfect for adding texture and intense colour to a low-water landscape. 170 words.
