Broad-leaved Stonecrop 'Cape Blanco'

Sedum spathulifolium 'Cape Blanco' is a striking evergreen succulent that brings exceptional texture and colour to the alpine garden. It forms low mats of fleshy, spoon-shaped leaves arranged in tight rosettes, which are covered in a thick, waxy, silvery-white powder. This powdery coating is particularly intense in 'Cape Blanco', giving the whole plant a ghostly, luminous appearance. In mid-summer, it produces flat-topped clusters of bright, star-like yellow flowers that contrast beautifully with the silver foliage. This plant is incredibly tough and drought-tolerant, naturally growing on rocky coastal cliffs. In the UK, it is perfect for wall crevices, troughs, or gravel gardens. It requires very little maintenance other than ensuring it has sharp drainage. The silver rosettes take on a purple tint in cold winter weather, adding further seasonal interest. It is a reliable and highly decorative choice for any sunny, well-drained spot.
