Weihenstephan Gold Stonecrop 'Weihenstephaner Gold'
Often confused with the species, this variety is exceptionally floriferous, literally covering itself in golden-yellow flowers in midsummer. The foliage consists of spoon-shaped, serrated green leaves that form a low, dense carpet about 10-15cm high. As autumn approaches, the foliage often takes on attractive orange and red hues. It is an incredibly tough plant, rated H7, and can thrive in almost any sunny spot in the UK with reasonable drainage. It is particularly effective when used for mass planting on banks, as a groundcover between taller perennials, or in large containers. The flowers are a rich source of nectar, attracting a wide variety of pollinators to the garden. It is deciduous, but its vigorous spring growth quickly fills in any gaps. This is one of the most reliable and 'bomb-proof' succulents available for the British gardener, providing consistent performance year after year.
