Scorzonera 'Giant Russian'
'Giant Russian' is a robust scorzonera cultivar, yielding long, black-skinned roots with a creamy white interior and an exquisite, nutty flavour, often likened to artichoke. Foliage grows to 60-90cm, with a spread of 20-30cm. In its second year, attractive yellow, dandelion-like flowers appear, which are also edible. Scorzonera prefers a sunny to partial shade position and deep, stone-free, well-drained soil. H6. A very hardy and rewarding perennial vegetable for winter harvesting.
