Siberian Squill
Scilla siberica, commonly known as Siberian squill, is a delightful small bulb that produces intense, vivid blue, star-shaped flowers in early spring. These charming blooms emerge just as the winter chill begins to recede, creating a stunning carpet of colour in woodland gardens, rockeries, or at the front of borders. Fully hardy in the UK, it thrives in partial shade but can also tolerate full sun, preferring well-drained soil. It naturalises readily, spreading to form ever-increasing drifts of brilliant blue, often alongside snowdrops and crocuses. Its vibrant colour is a welcome sight after the grey days of winter and is excellent for pollinators.
