Dwarf Umbrella Pine 'Picola'

Sciadopitys verticillata 'Picola' is a charming dwarf cultivar of the Japanese Umbrella Pine, forming a compact, dense, conical to ovoid habit. It features the species' distinctive whorls of long, glossy dark green needles, but on a much smaller scale. This slow-growing conifer typically reaches 1-1.5 metres in height and 0.8-1.2 metres in spread, making it suitable for rockeries, small borders, or containers. It prefers a sheltered position in full sun to partial shade and consistently moist, well-drained, acidic soil (H6). Its unique foliage provides year-round texture and interest, bringing the aristocratic presence of its larger cousin to smaller spaces.
