Magnolia Vine

Schisandra grandiflora is a fascinating and elegant deciduous climber that is becoming increasingly popular in UK gardens. It produces dangling, bell-shaped flowers in late spring that are a soft, fleshy pink or creamy-white. The flowers have a subtle fragrance and are followed, on female plants (if a male is nearby), by long, pendulous spikes of bright red berries that persist into autumn. The foliage is a fresh green, turning golden-yellow before falling. It is a woody climber that twines around its support, reaching up to 6 metres. It is fully hardy (H5) but prefers a cool, moist, and sheltered position, making it perfect for a woodland garden or a west-facing wall. It does not like to dry out and benefits from a regular mulch of leaf mould. It is relatively pest-resistant and requires minimal pruning, just to remove dead or tangled growth in late winter.坐平衡
