Sweet Scabious 'Fata Morgana'

'Fata Morgana' is a truly unique Scabious variety that brings a vintage, sophisticated look to UK borders. The flowers are a soft, creamy apricot-yellow with a hint of pink, and they possess the classic pincushion shape that pollinators adore. Growing to about 90cm, it is a taller variety that works excellently in the middle or back of a border, or as a focal point in a dedicated cutting garden. The stems are long and strong, making them exceptional for floral arrangements. In the UK climate, this annual is relatively easy to grow from seed sown in early spring under glass or directly in May. It prefers a position in full sun with alkaline to neutral soil. Deadheading is essential to keep the blooms coming; if maintained, it can flower right up until the first frosts. It is a fantastic choice for those looking for something beyond the usual blues and pinks of the Scabious family.
