Mossy Saxifrage 'Purple Shade'

Mossy Saxifrage, specifically the Arendsii Group cultivars, are indispensable for their cushion-forming habit, ideal for filling crevices in rockeries or as groundcover in alpine beds across the UK. These evergreen perennials create tight, verdant mats of finely cut, moss-like foliage. In spring and early summer, they erupt with a profusion of delicate, star-shaped flowers, typically in shades of white, pink, or red, held on slender stems above the foliage. They prefer partial shade to full sun, especially in cooler regions, and require well-drained, gritty soil that remains consistently moist but not waterlogged. Being incredibly hardy, often up to H6-H7, they are a reliable choice for most UK gardens. Their compact growth and vibrant floral display make them a staple for creating intricate alpine landscapes, providing early season colour.
