Lizard's Tail

Saururus cernuus, commonly known as Lizard's Tail, is an attractive marginal aquatic perennial. It gets its name from its distinctive, arching flower spikes, which are covered in small, fragrant white flowers resembling a lizard's tail. These elegant blooms appear from mid-summer to early autumn. The plant features heart-shaped, bright green leaves that provide lush foliage and a tropical feel to pond margins and bog gardens. It thrives in moist soil or shallow water (up to 15cm deep) and prefers partial shade to full sun. Growing to a height of 60-90cm with a spread of 45-60cm, it forms dense clumps. It's a graceful addition, providing good cover for wildlife and adding unique texture to the waterside.
