White-stripe Leaved Bamboo 'f. albostriata'
Sasaella masamuneana f. albostriata, commonly known as White-stripe Leaved Bamboo, is a vigorous, spreading dwarf bamboo highly valued for its attractive variegated foliage. Each slender, dark green leaf is boldly striped with creamy-white, creating a bright and lively effect, particularly prominent when new. This running bamboo typically reaches an ultimate height of 0.6-1.5 metres with an indefinite spread if not contained by a rhizome barrier. It is hardy in the UK, rated H5, tolerating temperatures down to -15°C. This bamboo thrives in partial shade to full sun, with partial shade often enhancing the variegation. It prefers moist, well-drained, fertile soil. Flowering is rare and insignificant. Its bright foliage makes it an excellent choice for ground cover, brightening shady areas, or providing year-round interest in containers (with containment).
