Creeping zinnia 'Sunbini'
Sanvitalia procumbens 'Sunbini' is a prolific, low-growing annual that is perfect for brightening up the edges of UK patio containers, hanging baskets, and rockeries. Commonly called creeping zinnia, this cultivar is valued for its neat, prostrate habit and its abundance of tiny, bright yellow, daisy-like flowers with contrasting dark centres. Unlike some other annuals, 'Sunbini' is notably drought-tolerant once established and maintains a tidy appearance without the need for deadheading, as the old flowers are quickly covered by new growth. In the UK, it performs best in a sunny, warm position where it will flower continuously from June until the first autumn frosts. It is a tender annual, so it should be planted out only after all danger of frost has passed in late May or early June. Its trailing nature makes it an excellent 'spiller' in mixed container displays, providing a golden carpet of colour that lasts all season long.
