Cotton lavender
Santolina viridis, commonly known as Green Cotton Lavender, is a delightful evergreen sub-shrub offering fine texture and vibrant colour to sunny UK gardens. Unlike its grey-leaved relatives, S. viridis boasts bright green, finely dissected foliage, forming a compact mound. In summer, it produces an abundance of cheerful, button-like, yellow-green flowers held above the foliage. It's highly drought-tolerant and thrives in full sun and very well-drained soil, making it ideal for gravel gardens, rockeries, or as an edging plant. Prune after flowering to maintain its neat shape. A low-maintenance plant that adds a refreshing splash of green.
