Annual Clary 'Pink Sunday'
'Pink Sunday' is a delightful annual Salvia grown not for its flowers, which are tiny, but for its highly ornamental, brightly coloured bracts. In this cultivar, the bracts are a vivid, glowing rose-pink, appearing at the top of 40-50cm stems. These colourful leaves last much longer than traditional petals, providing a reliable splash of colour in UK borders for months on end. It has a neat, upright habit and looks fantastic when planted in large groups. It is very easy to grow from seed sown directly in the ground in late spring. In the UK, it is also a popular choice for drying, as the bracts retain their colour exceptionally well. It is an H4 hardy annual, meaning it can handle the typical UK spring dips in temperature. It prefers a sunny spot with well-drained soil. This plant is a great "gap filler" and provides a soft, hazy texture that complements more structured garden plants perfectly.
