Rosemary 'Severn Sea'

'Severn Sea' is a particularly beautiful and distinct cultivar of rosemary, valued for its graceful, arching habit and intense flower colour. Unlike the stiffly upright types, this variety forms a spreading, medium-sized shrub that can even be encouraged to trail over walls or the edges of raised beds. Its needle-like leaves are a vibrant, dark green and carry the rich, resinous scent that makes rosemary an indispensable culinary herb for roasting. In spring and often again in autumn, it is smothered in clusters of deep, bright blue flowers that are significantly darker than many other varieties. This cultivar originates from the UK and is well-adapted to the British climate, provided it is grown in a sunny, sheltered spot away from cold, drying winds. It requires a soil that drains quickly; it will not tolerate waterlogged conditions during the winter. It is highly attractive to early-season pollinators and adds structure to the herb garden.
