Rosemary 'Miss Jessopps Upright'

Salvia rosmarinus 'Miss Jessopp's Upright', formerly Rosmarinus officinalis, is a classic upright evergreen shrub cherished for its aromatic, needle-like leaves and delicate pale blue flowers. Reaching up to 1.5-2 metres in height and about 90cm wide, it forms an attractive structural element in a UK garden, often used as a fragrant hedge or a stand-alone specimen. The flowers appear primarily in spring and early summer, attracting bees. This cultivar is particularly valued for its strong, resinous fragrance, making it a culinary favourite for seasoning. It thrives in full sun and requires very well-drained, even poor, soil, preferring alkaline to neutral conditions. It is drought-tolerant and reasonably hardy, but may appreciate some winter protection in colder, exposed UK regions.
