Samphire (Marsh)

Marsh Samphire is a succulent, edible coastal plant, prized for its crisp texture and distinctive salty, fresh flavour. It forms bushy clumps of jointed, green stems, reaching 15-30cm in height and spread. Inconspicuous greenish flowers appear in late summer. Samphire thrives in full sun and very well-drained, sandy soil, tolerating saline conditions. H6. A gourmet sea vegetable, traditionally gathered from salt marshes, it can be cultivated in gardens using similar soil conditions and providing protection from excessive rain.
