Arctic Raspberry
The Arctic Raspberry is a low-growing, creeping perennial, typically only 10-25cm tall but spreading widely. It produces intensely fragrant, dark red, sweet-tart berries in mid-summer (July-August), considered a delicacy in northern regions. Extremely hardy (H7) and preferring moist, acidic soil and partial shade, it's ideal for a cool, woodland-edge setting or as ground cover. Delicate pink flowers appear in May-June. While individual yields are small, the flavour is exceptional, and it's a unique addition to a specialist fruit garden, thriving where other Rubus might struggle.
