Rose 'Port Sunlight'
Named for the historic village in the Wirral, 'Port Sunlight' is an English Shrub Rose of great elegance. Its flowers are a rich apricot-orange in the centre, fading to a paler apricot on the outer petals. They are medium-sized and flat rosettes with a strong Tea fragrance. The shrub has a vigorous, upright habit with arching stems that can reach 1.2m or more. The young foliage is a beautiful bronzy-red, maturing to a healthy, dark green. In the UK, it is a very reliable repeat-flowerer and shows a high degree of disease resistance. It is particularly effective when planted towards the middle or back of a border where its warm-toned blooms can provide a focal point. It is fully hardy and will thrive in most soils as long as they are well-drained and the plant is fed regularly. This variety is an excellent choice for those who appreciate the warm, sunset colours of apricot and gold in their garden.
