Rose 'Blanche Double de Coubert'

A classic Rugosa rose, 'Blanche Double de Coubert' is one of the best white roses for UK gardens. It produces large, semi-double, pure white flowers with a tissue-paper texture and a powerful, intoxicating fragrance. The first flush in early summer is particularly heavy, with repeat blooms appearing throughout the season. Like all Rugosas, it is exceptionally tough, healthy, and disease-resistant, featuring characteristic leathery, wrinkled ('rugose') foliage. It is a vigorous shrub, reaching about 1.5m, and is often used for hedging or in coastal gardens due to its extreme salt and wind tolerance. While it doesn't produce as many hips as some other Rugosas, it makes up for it with the beauty and scent of its flowers. It is fully hardy (H7) and will grow in almost any soil, even very poor or sandy ones. It requires little maintenance and should be pruned only to remove old wood or to shape.

Soil: Any soil, including poor/sandy soil.
