Rose 'Aicha'
'Aicha' is a beautiful and very hardy Scots Rose (Spinosissima) hybrid that is perfect for the UK climate. It produces large, semi-double, clear yellow flowers that open wide to reveal golden-brown stamens. The fragrance is very strong and distinctively sweet and spicy. One of its greatest virtues is its early flowering season, often being one of the first roses to bloom in May. It has an upright, slightly arching habit, reaching about 1.5-2 metres, and its stems are very thorny. The foliage is small and fern-like, remaining healthy throughout the season. It is a very tough rose that can tolerate poor soil and exposed, windy sites. While it has one main flush in early summer, it will often produce a few flowers later in the year. It is fully hardy (H7) and requires very little maintenance, though it can sucker if grown on its own roots. A superb choice for a more natural or 'wild' part of the garden.
