Rhododendron 'Praecox'

Rhododendron 'Praecox' is an early-flowering, compact evergreen rhododendron, bringing welcome colour to the tail end of winter and early spring. It produces abundant clusters of funnel-shaped, rosy-purple flowers that stand out against its small, dark green leaves. This reliable hybrid forms a dense, rounded shrub, typically reaching 1.5-2m in height and spread. H6 hardy, it thrives in partial shade and moist, well-drained, acidic soil, ideally sheltered from harsh winds. An RHS AGM holder, it provides a vital early nectar source and a beautiful precursor to spring's main flush.
