Lesser Spearwort

Ranunculus flammula, or Lesser Spearwort, is a charming native perennial found in wet meadows and shallow water across the UK. It produces slender, branching stems with narrow, lance-shaped leaves and bright, glossy yellow, buttercup-like flowers from late spring through to early autumn. This hardy plant thrives in boggy ground or up to 10cm of shallow water, preferring full sun to partial shade. It typically grows to a height of 20-50cm, forming spreading clumps. The Lesser Spearwort is an excellent choice for naturalising pond margins, creating a cheerful splash of colour and providing valuable habitat for invertebrates. It's a reliable and easy-to-grow species that adds a touch of wild elegance.
