Red Oak

A large, vigorous deciduous tree, renowned for its spectacular crimson-red autumn colour, which is arguably its most notable feature. It grows to 20-25m tall with a broad, rounded crown. The large, lobed leaves are glossy green in summer. Fully hardy (H6), it is tolerant of a wide range of conditions, thriving in full sun and well-drained to moist, acidic to neutral soils; it struggles on shallow chalk. A fast-growing and imposing specimen for large gardens, parks, and woodland settings, providing brilliant seasonal display.
