Nashi Pear 'Hosui'

'Hosui' is a popular Nashi or Asian pear cultivar, forming a medium-sized tree of 4-6m in height and spread. It produces large, round, golden-bronze fruits with a distinctive crisp, juicy, and sweet flavour, akin to a pear-apple hybrid, ripening in late August/early September. Moderately hardy (H5) in the UK, it benefits from a sheltered, sunny position and fertile, well-drained soil. White blossoms appear in April. 'Hosui' offers a unique texture and flavour, a great alternative to traditional European pears, and is generally self-fertile.
