Common Pear

A medium-sized deciduous tree, primarily grown for its delicious fruit, but also valued for its ornamental appeal. It typically reaches 8-12m tall with a spread of 4-8m, forming a conical or rounded crown. Fully hardy (H6), it thrives in fertile, well-drained soil in a sheltered position with full sun for optimal fruit production. In early spring, it produces a profusion of delicate white blossom, followed by green foliage and, in late summer/autumn, the edible fruits. Its leaves often turn attractive shades of red and purple in autumn. A good choice for orchards or as a garden specimen.
