Wingnut 'Strobilacea'
'Strobilacea' is a unique and attractive cultivar of wingnut, likely a Pterocarya fraxinifolia variant or hybrid, notable for its particularly long and ornamental catkin-like fruit clusters. It forms a large, spreading deciduous tree, reaching 20-25m tall with a broad crown. Fully hardy (H7), it thrives in moist to wet, fertile soil and full sun, making it suitable for large areas or waterside planting. The pinnate leaves are lush green, and the pendulous strings of winged seeds can be over 50cm long, creating a dramatic visual effect in late summer and autumn.
