Flowering Cherry

Prunus serrulata, often known as the Japanese Flowering Cherry, is a quintessential spring-flowering deciduous tree in UK gardens, celebrated for its spectacular display of delicate blossoms. There are numerous cultivars, offering variations in flower colour (from pure white to deep pink), form (single or double petals), and tree shape. Typically growing 5-10 metres tall, it provides an exquisite focal point with its cloud-like masses of flowers in April and May, often followed by attractive autumn foliage colour. It thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Ideal as a specimen tree in lawns, avenues, or as part of a mixed border, bringing elegance and a joyous burst of spring colour.
