Nectarine 'Early Rivers'

Developed by the famous Rivers Nursery in Hertfordshire in the late 19th century, 'Early Rivers' is one of the most reliable nectarines for growing in the UK. It produces medium to large fruit with smooth, pale green skin flushed with bright red. The white flesh is incredibly juicy, tender, and fiber-free with a sweet, rich flavor. It is an early ripener, usually ready in mid to late July. The tree is vigorous and self-fertile, though hand pollination with a brush is recommended in early spring to ensure a good fruit set. Given the UK climate, it is best grown as a fan against a warm, south-facing wall or under glass to protect against winter cold and to ensure the fruit matures. It requires well-drained, fertile soil and protection from Peach Leaf Curl. Hardiness is rated at H4.
